News Assistant at CNN (11.2009-present)

I support all newsroom and live production operations in the DC Bureau of CNN. This includes field producing, live producing, research, and production assistance. I currently work as an overnight assignment editor. This involves working with crews and producers to ensure that all assignments are covered, managing overnight breaking news situations, and compiling a morning newsletter of stories from papers around the country and the world that is posted to cnn.com and e-mailed to subscribers.

Freelance News Assistant at CNN (6.2008-11.2009)

I assist with live production of all shows airing out of the Washington, DC CNN bureau. My tasks include greeting guests for interviews, running teleprompter for live shows and tapings, research, tape logging and transcribing, as well as field producing.

CNN Presents Intern (1.2008-5.2008)

CNN Presents is an Emmy award-winning long-form program that produces investigative and in-depth documentaries relevant to our times. I shadowed the program’s producers, video editor and managing editor in the Washington Bureau. My duties included research, show production, and story development. I also assist with tape and photo research. I attended any shoots in the Washington area.

Maxwell in Washington International Relations Semester (1.2008-5.2008)

For my last semester at Syracuse, I participated in a 15-credit program consisting of three seminars covering current issues in the
international political and economic arenas, as well as a 3-credit internship.

ReedLogic Video Production Intern (6.2007-8.2007)

ReedLogic produces executive seminars based on interviews with leading C-level executives and lawyers from across the country. My main responsibility was editing these seminars using footage from the interviews. I also filmed several interviews. In addition to editing, I was also responsible for the graphic design of any related print materials, such as DVD covers, seminar summaries, etc.

Professor’s Assistant to Assistant Professor Stuart Thorson (1.2007 – 1.2008)

I was in charge of organizing all media from the last 6 years related to Professor Thorson’s research collaboration with a North Korean university. My duties included some clerical/office work, filming and editing events, creating a daily planner, and creating a video documenting the project. I also assisted with academic research for political science articles.

NBC Internship at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics (2.04.2006 – 2.27.2006)

During the Games, I logged events for NBC at the International Broadcasting Center in Torino, Italy. I worked approximately 12 hour shifts during which I was responsible for logging the broadcasts of all of the Cross Country Skiing events as well as reference shows on NBC cable channels such as MSNBC, CNBC, and USA.

Daily Orange (1.2006 – 12.2006)

As a staff writer for SU’s independent student-run newspaper, I wrote for a political/community beat on a weekly basis.

Breakfast Club (9.2005 – 12.2005)

Once a week, I went to a nearby middle school and serve breakfast to a group of seventh and eighth grade students. For a half hour before their classes start, we played games and help them complete their homework.
